See what past audiences, from university lecturers to primary school pupils, have thought of my work.

FROM HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE STUDENTS AT NEW CITY COLLEGE (JAN 2025)

What was the most important thing you learnt from Javed’s talk?

The most important thing I learned was that you don’t give up on yourself
I learnt about the need for healthcare staff to support patients with feeling at ease and comfortable to speak to us. Very often we assume they would but really there needs to be more done to ensure people feel more at ease
To keep striving even if times get difficult
To be yourself and be kind to others

How do you think Javed’s talk could help you in the future?

Javed’s talk has really highlighted the importance of empowering patients to feel confidence in asking about their care or treatment and I will look for ways to promote this
Knowing when I need to let go and that it’s ok, I’m not a failure for not being able to do things that others can
Being aware of the individual patient need. The importance of expectation management and person centred care.
Increased awareness of barriers to accessing healthcare including lack of knowledge of what a GP can do/help you with.

ENFIELD GP FEDERATION CONFERENCE (NOV 2022)

Jav’s presentation is based on his patient relationship with our practice over the past year, in particular our reception manager and Dr Mownah. Meeting with Jav and listening to the struggles he has experienced with accessing NHS care over the years due to his disabilities, really inspired us to do better. The techniques discussed in Jav’s presentation will hopefully inspire other practices in the same way.
— Stacey Holding (Practice Manager at Oakwood Medical Centre)
Thank you so much for sharing with us your story, Javed. It is so inspirational! Well done also to all the Oakwood Surgery staff for such an incredible work with Javed. I feel inspired and energised and have learnt a lot with such a great example of partnership between service user and service providers.
Thank you! Great presentation!

You honestly taught them so much in such a short time! The positive impact your presentation will have on them will last for the rest of their lives. Never forget the extraordinary power you have to change people’s perspectives on so many things. Keep being amazing as you always are and I really hope you can deliver your important messages to more schools across the UK and even the world!!

FROM PUPILS WITH SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS AT BETHNAL GREEN ACADEMY (SEPT 2015)

What you said was very inspiring and also motivational - really uplifting.
True determination that you never gave up.
I think that everything you talked about was inspiring.

FROM STUDENTS AT LONDON SOUTHBANK UNIVERSITY (2015)

Everything that he is doing - going into schools and actually encouraging younger children to achieve their potential in education - is just amazing.
It makes you think about how the client feels with different professionals and puts everything into perspective.

FROM A LECTURER AT LONDON SOUTH BANK UNIVERSITY (2015)

It’s probably the most powerful lecture that happens in the module so thanks Javed.

They remember this most.

He told us you should always believe in yourself and that will help with your education.
He’s passed all of his tests. So I’ve realised, if he can do it, I can do it.
He taught us to carry on and never stop.

FROM A TEACHER AT ST MICHAEL AT BOWES CE JUNIOR SCHOOL (2012)

He was an inspirational speaker who engaged the children. He talked about working hard and not to take their education for granted. The children asked very sensible questions and many stayed behind to talk to him individually.

FROM A PUPIL AT OAKTHORPE PRIMARY SCHOOL (OCT 2012)

He gave us an inspirational talk about working hard, believing in ourselves and achieving our goals. He suffers from cerebral palsy and spoke to us using a voice synthesiser.
It was amazing to see all the things he has achieved in his life.
